About Me
As a therapist, I aim first and foremost to create a safe and supportive environment where you'll feel free to explore what is troubling you and where you'll feel attentively heard and deeply understood. Taking a collaborative approach, I work with individuals and couples on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, stress, and drug and alcohol addiction, relationship and communication problems, feelings of powerlessness, low self-esteem, work-related difficulties and life transitions. I also enjoy working with teens and high school students in assisting with coping skills and increased insight to reduce stress and anxiety notably on the rise for this population.
My Background
I have a masters in clinical counseling with a supervisory license from Cleveland State University as well as an independent license in drug and alcohol addiction. My training in couples counseling is from the renowned Gottman Institute in Seattle, USA, and I have many years experience in private practice assisting individuals and couples with a variety of issues. After many years in the US, I have recently moved back to my native country to be closer to friends and family. I also have a background with over 30 years as a professional violinist and have a masters and doctorate in musical arts. As such, I am well versed in the stressors and pressures of professional life and the useful coping skills and strategies necessary to maintain success as well as a calm and centered lifestyle.
My therapy approach:
I enjoy using psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies, which have been shown to be the most effective types of treatments for many psychological problems. Most importantly, I have unconditional positive regard for my clients and believe firmly in my clients' capacity for self-healing and personal growth. In therapy sessions with couples, I use Gottmans Couples Methods to help couples regain trust, learn better communication, and build happier and more meaningful relationships.
